As of August 17, 2010 Buster's Friends celebrated our one year anniversary!!!!  We are extremely lucky to have the team of volunteers, the support of Highland Village, the assistance from Houston PetSet, and the partnership of Petsmart  We are also lucky to have other new supporters such as Diana Foundation, PKF Texas, and most recently Jim Burwell.

We are proud to announce that in one year we have now adopted a total of 1124 animals our first year!!!!  That is 616 cats and 508 dogs.  That is truly amazing and we couldn't have done it without all of you!  We are EXTREMELY lucky to have Highland Village as our primary adoption site since 807 of the adoptions have been at HV!  Our 2 Petsmarts and Carter's Pet Depot have contributed as well.

I hope everyone feels the sense of gratification as well as excitement of being involved with such a superb group of people.  The dogs and cats definitely appreciate all or our hard work!!!

  


Buster's Friends teams up with Jim Burwell's Petiquette(R)

We are excited to announce that Jim Burwell, Houston's premier dog trainer, has teamed up with Buster's Friends to offer special savings and support for our dogs. Jim’s dog training techniques are based on leadership and positive reinforcement. With more than 25+ years experience in dog training and behavior modification plus having trained 20,000+ dog/puppies and counting, it is no wonder the "Burwell Method" has been accumulating accolades for years. Jim and his wife Leila have already spent time with some of Buster's dogs. We are truly blessed that Jim has chosen Buster's Friends and our dogs to take under his wing. Some exciting things that he and Petiquette will be offering:

*A 10% discount off the regular price of his group class for dogs adopted from Buster's Friends

*Donating a percentage to Buster's Friends for any dog trained at HV that did not come from our program.

*Offer a class from time to time for Buster's Friends volunteers and fosters.

*Offer his expertise and training on some of our"more challenging" dogs and long timers.

Classes for group training will begin in September so please, as you talk to potential adopters, you can mention that as a plus. We will have certificates available in the adoption giveaway bags. Please join us in welcoming Jim and Leila Burwell to Buster's Friends and Highland Village. You may see them both at Highland Village with Petiquette t-shirts working on some of our dogs! We are thrilled to have this opportunity...and as Jim says...."Opportunity Barks!"
